Positive Behavior Support Positive Behavior Support (PBS) refers to a set of research-based strategies that are intended to decrease problem behaviors by teaching children appropriate social and communication skills. Using PBS often decreases the need for more intrusive or aversive interventions (i.e., punishment or suspension) and can improve a child’s success in school, at home and in their social life.
CLO’s PBS program is a grant-funded program through the University of Kansas. It allows individuals under age 21 with Title 19 Medicaid and KanBeHealthy eligibility to receive behavioral support. To qualify, an individual must have a developmental disability and a problem behavior, or be typically developing and have a significant problem behavior impacting their life. Year long (130 hours) services are provided in the home and community. |
